Daytona Beach Personal Trainer or Gym

Daytona Beach Gym or Personal Trainer

Thinking about finding a Daytona Beach gym to lose weight and get in shape? There are so many options available nowadays that you can get lost if you're new to fitness.  Should you try to find a Daytona Beach gym first, then get a good personal trainer?  Or should you locate a great personal trainer first and then join the gym that he trains clients at?

Daytona Beach Gym or Personal Trainer - How To Choose?

When it comes to getting in shape or losing weight, there's lots to like about joining one of the gyms in Daytona Beach.  Here's a few guidelines for finding a great local gym:

Daytona Beach Gym - Easy to Find

Do you want to be part of a national chain or are you looking for more of the "mom & pop" experience?  Either way it's quick and easy to find one.  Local Daytona Beach Gyms  Just google something like "gyms in Daytona Beach" and you'll find all of the major health clubs on the first page or two.

Daytona Beach Gym - Location, Location, Location

When joining a Daytona Beach gym, most people are concerned primarily with proximity.  "What are the gyms near me?" or "How far is this gym from my home?"

With gyms it really is all about location, location, location.

Daytona Beach Gym - Interview the Trainers

If you’re thinking about hiring a personal trainer that works for a gym, you want to be thorough in checking them out before signing any long term contracts.  A common scenario at the big gyms is that your main contact with the personal training department is the head trainer…who gets that position by being the best salesperson.

They'll build rapport, take you through a workout, sign you up....and hand you over to the 17 year-old new guy.  This isn't always the case.  But it happens alot.

Daytona Beach Gym - Quick to Join

After you've found the one you like it's quick & easy to join.  In as little as 5 minutes you can determine your payment option, sign the paperwork, and be on the treadmill warming up!

Personal Trainer - Ask the Important Questions

Another option is finding a personal trainer, whether in-home or in the gym.  I've already written a post on how to find an in-home personal trainer.  When interviewing a trainer here's a few good questions to ask:
  • Do you have a degree in Exercise Science/Kinesiology?

  • How long have you been a personal trainer?

  • What is your area(s) of specialty? (weight loss, 50+ fitness, post-pregnancy, post re-hab, etc.)

  • Is this your full-time job?

Also, be sure to ask for testimonials from satisfied clients.  A good, established personal trainer should have several available for you.  If no one is willing to go on record and vouch for the guy (or gal), I'd suggest you keep searching.

When searching for a Daytona Beach Gym or Fitness Center...

...ask good questions, do your homework, and then trust your gut.
